Whilst England's talismanic opener Andrew Strauss was at Lords slaying the aussies, Moreton (who coincidently had their very own talismanic opener at Lords slaying a couple of aussies) awaited the arrival of the Squash Boys!
The comedy began when we found out their captain was to be one of our newest recruits Jay Jarni Gobby Jaimini Jay Jarni. Jonny after recovering from a bout of laughter then duly gave him a taste of things to come with a sound whupping at the toss!
Moreton as ever elected to bat with Nigel and Smithy going out first.Progress was slow but steady with all the batsmen getting a start and we edged along to a paltry 109 for 9 off our 20 overs.Whilst quite a low score, Jonny was quietly confident it would be more than enough for our visitors. Highlights included a debut from Moreton's newest recruit 8yr old Warren, a stylish 21 from Sammy, Nigel getting bowled by Jay Jarni Gobby Jaimini Jay Jarni and Charlie "Vogue" Glover striking a pose, looking daggers at Jonny for running him out! For them, a good spell of bowling from Squash newcomer Jag who finished with figures of 3 for 11 from 4 overs.
Andy and Ben went out to the middle to open the innings for the Squash Club with Andy returning to the pavilion shortly afterwards being bowled third ball by an on fire Jonny. NB. This was Andy's second successive duck against Moreton after getting f***all for Cholsey in a wednesday night game.
Jonny and Westy then terrorised the Squashed Club leaving them at 15 for 5 after the first 7 overs. Jonny weighing in with a match winning 4 for 9 from 4 overs. This included a hat trick ball against Jay Jarni Gobby Jaimini Jay Jarni who just survived it only to get caught by Westy at gully the first time that he actually managed to hit the ball! Then came the masterplan, "Volvo" McGregor was replaced behind the stumps by our new up and coming wicketkeeper Warren (aged 8 I might add again) and the spinners came on. Wicksy, Smithy and Tompy then went about their business taking the last 5 wickets, leaving the opposition high and dry on 74 all out.
A comprehensive victory was achieved, with a superb performance behind the stumps from debutant Warren (did I mention he was only 8 years old?) leaving Volvo,Lockey,Bomber,Wicksy,Gibbsy et al looking over their shoulders!
We all then retired to The Bear to listen to tales of oil and squirting (courtesy of Smithy) and confessions of a former male model (courtesy of Charlie).
The icing on the cake was our talismanic opener returning from Lords (Tim not Strauss you fools) with 2 battered aussies in his wake!
Well done boys, the Moreton Juggernaut rolls on!!!!!!!!!!!

Good work chaps- nice to get a mention when I'm not there, and I think Strauss will be pleased to be mentioned too !

Thanks for not mentioning my dropped catch mate.

Well they happen so often Tompy that they are not much of an event anymore. We have grown to accept them!
